Living Storybook Program
Do The Write Thing recognizes that supporting struggling readers as critical to its mission of improving the life success of children. Research shows that a child that is not reading at grade level by the 4th grade may struggle throughout their academic career and have difficulty ever catching up to their peers. DTWT has designed a unique literacy program for elementary children called “Living Storybook” through which books are customized using photos of living children in an actual published “storybook”. Children record the text of the book in a sound recording studio to create a read-along version of the book, and also participate in a musical production of the play version of the book.
